Shu Uemura

Shu Uemura is a Professional Makeup Artist brand from Japan. The founder Uemura Shū is a professional makeup artist who worked in Hollywood. He returned to Japan in 1960 and later launched his brand with a cleansing oil, which has a strong cleaning ability without drying the skin. Uemura’s philosophy was that the health of the skin is the most important aspect of cosmetics. He believed cosmetics should be to enhance beauty and not to recreate beauty. L’Oréal acquired a majority stake in 2004 and propelled the brand internationally.

Today, the three fundamentals of Shu Uemura are:

1. Shu Atelier makeup artistry – to reinventing the brand legacy with edgy modernity

2. Tokyo flair

3. Edgy chic
