Makeup is part of the necessities that everyone constantly seeks. We used to be constrained by notions that makeup was solely for women, but thanks to the new generation, makeup has now been openly catered and welcome to everyone. And, thankfully, Malaysia’s beauty business, which includes makeup and skincare, is progressively making inroads not only domestically but also internationally.

And, as time passes, more autonomous local businesses start to emerge, offering a diverse range of items that may potentially compete with international standards. These Malaysian beauty products may have achieved international recognition, but their ultimate purpose has always been to pander to the originality of Malaysian beauty.

We wanted to honour some of our industrious local firms, so we’ve selected 8 Malaysian cosmetic brands who produce their products locally and have been actively generating high-quality items.

Though, as years went by, her attachment to beauty and makeup remained, and thus, she decided to combine the two most dearest things to her—mermaids and makeup—together, the idea of Kamelia Cosmetics was born.
