The first Snips salon was founded in Sungei Wang Plaza in the 1990s by Mike Loh. The salon franchise and academy has reached out internationally, including in Hong Kong and Beijing. It is approved and recognized by (MDCC) Ministry of Domestic Trade, Cooperatives and Consumerism of Malaysia, as well as being recognized by Malaysia Book of Record as the very first Salon Franchise in Malaysia.
