There is a desire we share and that is to have beautiful, healthy, flawless skin. However, many pieces of advice on the internet are filled with lines of products they recommend trying. Of course, it’s undeniable that having a concrete skincare routine is the highest pillar to achieving flawless skin but there must be more, right? That’s why Beauty Insider is dishing out tips and tricks to ACTUALLY achieve flawless skin!

A sheet mask a day will keep the dullness away

These days, a sheet mask is a beauty essential that is designed like a face and saturated with nourishing and hyd. These masks have openings at the eyes and nostrils and are designed to fit your face perfectly. It ensures that every inch of your face is covered and treated by the concentrated serum.

Additionally, placing a sheet mask in the fridge will give you a cooling effect when you wear it. It’s become a common trend these days to implement daily sheet masks into your routine rather than do it weekly. However, this isn’t just a trend but it actually has worked! We’ve tried this ourselves and your skin will get softer and more glowy in no time.

Sleep is more important than you think

This may seem the most obvious but the majority of us don’t understand the magnitude of the impact it’ll give. Sleep may be the closest thing to a fountain of youth when it comes to your beauty routine. Sleeping isn’t simply just resting your body for a few hours. It is probably one of the most important tips you’ll receive.

When we are sleeping, our body goes into a repair and regenerative state. This is the time where our body heals, resulting in a broad list of beauty benefits. While you sleep, your body increases blood flow to the skin, giving you a healthy glow when you wake up. If you don’t get enough sleep, your skin can appear dull, tired and lifeless.

Furthermore, as you sleep, your skin produces new collagen, which helps to prevent sagging. Sleeping for only 5 hours a night can result in twice as many fine wrinkles as sleeping for 7. It also dries out the skin, making lines more noticeable and that is the farthest from what we want.

You are what you eat (unfortunately)

Beauty from the inside out can be more than just a handy catchphrase. In fact, as it turns out, what we eat and drink on a daily basis may be one of the most important factors influencing our skin, hair and nail health. A diet free of chemical additives and refined sugars is the foundation to a wholesome lifestyle.

If you think that you can achieve flawless skin while practising a diet that consists of greasy foods then we’re here to tell you you’re wrong. Sadly, sweets and fries that are full of sugar, oil and fat aren’t the best for the skin. That’s why they’re called guilty pleasures.

They impact negatively on our skin and by creating a poor influence on our digestive system. We have to remember that this will reflect on our body and that includes our skin. They can cause our skin to break out, feel unhealthy and appear grimy. Foods are broken down into vitamins, minerals, and amino acids, which your body can employ to create healthy skin. Your skin will not be as strong and supple as it may be if you go on a crash diet or eat highly processed meals.

Additionally, you want to have a balanced diet of greens, proteins and carbs. Of course, you should completely eliminate your sweet treats but control the intake to a manageable amount.

Stop touching your face!

There’s a really easy way to stop getting blemishes — and it’s called washing your hands. We know this sounds harsh, but don’t freak out — you’re not going to have to wash your hands a bazillion times. The real trick is just doing it regularly.

Many people touch their faces subconsciously out of habit (guilty as charged) we need to discuss how gross it actually is. Our fingers touch multiple surfaces and can be considered one of the dirtiest parts of our body. They are swarmed with bacteria and germs thus can you imagine applying all of those onto your face? It’s no surprise why breakouts keep happening!

You need to start restraining yourself from touching your face with your hands. However, if you can’t seem to break the habit, it’s time to add the new habit of regularly washing your hands. Personally, I apply hand sanitiser regularly which helps keep my fingers germ-free.

Layer your toner

Many skincare experts will tell you that toners aren’t necessary, but when it comes to achieving flawless skin, skipping this step isn’t an option. Toners will moisturise your skin, allowing the remainder of your products to work to their full potential.

Now that we’ve persuaded you that you need toner in your routine, we’ll show you how to apply toner to flawless skin. This is due to the fact that you must layer your toner. It is recommended that you layer your toner up to seven times, but three to five times is sufficient. This will provide your skin with a lot of hydrations, and believe us when we say that your skin will thank you for it.

Weekly pillowcase changes

This might be the tip that will have many confused because- seriously, pillowcases? Yes, pillowcases! Do you realise how dirty our pillowcases get and how much germ and bacteria it traps? From the sweat we release through the night to the excess oil from our scalp; our pillowcases are actually disgusting.

Especially when we are in our subconscious state of being asleep, we tend to toss and turn and yes- we rub our faces all over the pillowcases. That’s why it is important you replace your pillowcase at least once a week. Alternatively, you can opt for a silk pillowcase that doesn’t trap bacteria as much as cotton ones hence replacing it after two weeks instead!
