Cucumbers cool your skin and reduce swelling and inflammation. They contain skin-lightening properties to further help in reducing dark circles under the eye.
Refrigerate cucumbers, place a thick slice of peeled cucumber over each of your eyes. Leave them on for around 10 minutes and rinse with cold water.
Almond Oil + Vitamin E Oil
Almond oil by itself helps to lighten dark circles, but combining it with vitamin E oil increases its effectiveness.
Mix some almond oil with vitamin oil and apply to the skin under the eye for an over-night treatment.
Raw potatoes contain antioxidants and enzymes that help combat dark circles. They cool down your skin and contain natural bleaching agents. Furthermore, raw potatoes help to de-puff the skin around the eyes.
Grate a raw potato, squeeze out the juice. Saturate a ball of cotton wool with the potato juice and apply to the skin under your eyes. Leave it on overnight and wash off in the morning.
The caffeine and antioxidants in tea help with blood circulation, shrink blood vessels and reduce water retention. Furthermore, tea reduces swelling and brightens up the skin.
Keep used tea bags in the fridge. Place them on the skin for 10 minutes and rise after.
Cold compress cools the skin and helps constrict the blood vessels under the eyes. Either a gel eye mask placed in the freezer prior-to-use or just wrap some ice in a towel as a cooling compress will do.
Lack of adequate sleep can cause a host of issues including dark circles to appear under your eyes. It causes your skin to look pale and hence, making the colour of blood vessels under the skin more prominent. Clock in 7 to 9 hours of sleep nightly to avoid the appearance of dark circles forming from fatigue.
Drink Plenty of Water
The skin around the eyes is thin. If the blood lacks fluid, the blood is darker in colour. Aim for 8 glasses of water daily to keep dark circles at bay.
