Breathe in, breathe out. Have you ever come across a yoga instructor, or health guru and wonder how they have such amazing, flawless, top to toe, glowing skin? Like everything about them just screams ‘’peace’’. Be it their aura, their voice, their complexion and just their overall energy—we can’t help but gravitate towards them. And if you’re a big fan of Nicole Kidman, like me, you’ll know that she had recently come out with a new series called ‘’Nine Perfect Stranger’’, where she played the mysterious Masha Dmitrichenko, the enigmatic founder of boutique health and wellness resort.

And though Nicole carries the shady character wisely, she also has this soft, health guru glowy skin that often radiates around the ‘’real’’ health guru—props to their makeup and hair department. But how do one achieve this glow, for real? We often hear ‘’Beauty grows from within,’’, ‘’In order to look beautiful on the outside, one must make amends with what’s on the inside,’’—so on and so forth. But how accurate are these statements? Here’s some spoiler alert, as the series unfolds, a more mysterious case starts to surface. For example, most guests and staff working and staying at the Tranquillum Resort, start to experience their own glowy and healthy looking skin. Maybe the secret lies behind the smoothie? The yoga? We don’t know. But what we do know is that these ‘’glow from within’’ looks can be reached with just a simple, few skincare steps.

So, what exactly are these wellness gurus’ secrets? Beauty Insider tried to dig around and found the best skincare steps in order for you to look as healthy and peaceful as Nicole Kidman’s character. And yes, there might be ‘’drinking a lot of water’’ involved in this list. Because whether you like it or not, one must drink 8 glasses of water a day, to stay healthy. Let’s start there.

Less Is Definitely More

Okay, here’s another spoiler, (please forgive me), in the series, Nicole Kidman’s character, Misha secretly laced her guests drinks with an ingredient called psilocybin. Also strongly known as ‘’Magic Mushrooms’’. So what do they do exactly? They tend to relax your skin altogether, bringing and restoring your old texture with new. Basically, gone with the old, in with the new. So how do we get this illuminating-looking skin without having to consume the magic mushroom? According to the series makeup artist, Nikki Gooley, she revealed that less is definitely more. ‘’I tend to go for what people working at the spas and beauty salons look like. Which is having very minimal makeup, and letting your skin breathe. They have an impeccable glow. That’s what I went for Nicole and the others’ look. Prioritizing soothing, peaceful, healthy and radiant complexion.’’ Gotcha!

Moisturize, Moisturize, Moisturize

Which leads to the second point, which is moisturize the heck out of your skin. I mean, it is well aware that in order for your skin to look young, bountiful, and healthy, it all starts with a good ole’ moisturizer. Almost 95% of the moisturizers sold in the market are made of water and skin boosting ingredients, so if there’s one skin care product that you should never ever skip, no doubt it’ll be moisturizer. Nikki Gooley then proceeded to say, ‘’Don’t skip moisturizer especially if you’re a heavy makeup user. I suggest you mixed your moisturizer with sunscreen and foundation together to reveal a perfect combination of skin protection.’’ Ouh, nice point, we’ll add that to our list-to-do. Next, Nikki said she chose the Bobbi Brown Long-Wear Weightless Foundation which contains SPF 15 to protect your skin from the uv rays. And mixed along with Chanel’s Vitalumiere Aqua Ultra-Light Skin Perfecting Makeup which acted as a veil to cover your flaw. For a subtle glow, she dabbed Eminence Bamboo Firming Moisturiser for a sheer glow.

Blush For A Flush!

I once saw this hack from TikTok where it shows you if you pinch your cheek so hard, it’ll give you a natural shade of flush. But um, really? Why hurt yourself when there’s a safer and more comfortable alternative? Nikki said, in order for you to mimic that health guru glow is to opt for a cream blush rather than your usual powder blush. And when applying cream blush, she recommended that you use your clean fingers instead of beauty sponge or brushes. This is because a cream product applied using the warmth of the fingers will create a more natural yet minimal effect. For Nicole Kidman’s look, Nikki used the RMS Beauty Lip2Cheek Tint. The key is to keep the application around the apples of your cheek. If you want more coverage, bring it further to your brow bone and at the bridge of your nose, that’s a sunkissed look!

Don’t Forget Lip Balm

Last but not least, no look is complete without a good lip cream or lip balm. Especially if you’re having dry and flaky lip problems. You want to fix this problem with adding a good coloured lip balm, or according to Nikki, to keep the look minimal, use the same lip tint that you have used on your cheeks. This will create a more natural complexion, by keeping the same shade range.
