The best contour makeup is one that does not look like you have used the contour kit. Bring attention to the cheeks and highlight the glow subtly, rather than drawing attention to you having used contouring products. Here are a few more tips on how to subtly contour your cheeks. A quick tip: Go for the best cream contour!

How To Contour Your Face

Step 1

The first step in contour makeup is contouring your cheeks. No matter if you want to subtly contour your face, or dramatically add dimension. Your cheeks are the most important part of your face to contour. When trying to contour your cheeks, experts suggest that you follow the planes or hollow of your cheek. This is usually the area from the middle of your ear diagonally to the corners of your mouth.

Step 2

Next, in contour makeup 101 is to cast shadows. A great way to find the hollows of your cheek is by sucking them in. this way, you can subtly contour your face by making light strokes. Be sure to contour around your hairline and above your brows outer corner. When looking for a bronzer, it is best to look for one that is matte. Since shadows don’t sparkle, it doesn’t make sense to get a shimmery contour.

Step 3

A tip to enhance your lips, is by applying concealer, highlight or even contour. Do so on the top of your cupid’s bow, and in the centre of your chin. Make sure to blend it out well. Contouring right under the middle of your lower lip can make your lips appear poutier too.

Step 4

To make your eyes appear bigger and wider, apply contour makeup on your orbital bone. Since the orbital bone is slightly higher, applying contour makeup can make your eyes look wide awake. It is much better than contouring on your crease.

Step 5

Applying highlighter to your upper cheekbones, brow bones and length of your nose creates a strobing effect. It makes for a great shine and makes your face glow.

Step 6

The one place you should remember to contour is your jaw. This adds definition and makes your jaw appear more defined. Apply contour makeup on the edge of your jaw. For more definition, add trace your jaw with highlighter from your earlobe to your chin.

Step 7

To eliminate any streaks, be sure to blend your contour out with a sponge or brush. The best way to do this is to start in the middle and work your way outwards. With that, you are officially done with your subtle contour makeup.

1. Go creamy
