Review: Is The Laneige Two Tone Matte Lip Bar A Hit Or A Miss?!

We couldn’t help ourselves but swoon over amazing Korean makeup products that are used in Korean dramas over and over again. Not just because some of us in the team are big K-drama fans but it is mainly because K beauty products are just too good! This time, we are going to talk about one of the most hyped Korean product, that never seem to run of out hype despite its release couple of years back. Well, if you guessed Laneige Two Tone Matte Lip Bar then you’re 100% right! 

It is one of those staple products that you can find in any K-beauty fans’ vanity pouch. Pride of the Korean beauty, the Laneige Two Tone Matte Lip Bar is meant to give you that “pouty” effect, with a darker colour concentrated in the centre of the lips, then fading out at the edges. Laneige Malaysia has just recently released is the Two-Tone Matte Lip Bar and they are available in ten different shades. They are in fact very similar to the original Two Tone Lip Bar but has a matte formula that is more in-line with current makeup trends. We got two of the most popular shades the Burgundy Mood (the darkest shade) and Powershoulder Pink (the lightest shades). We purposefully chose one dark and one light shade so to see if there are any differences in the formula, texture and application. To find out more, read on our full review.

1. Packaging (3/5)

All of the Laneige Two Tone Matte Lip Bars are encased in a chic white packaging that features a slide-down lever on the side to push the lipstick out. The lipstick is compact so perfect to carry around everywhere. Another thing we like about the lipstick is that it comes in a rectangular shape, which makes it quite easy to apply. However, it is very slim and prone to breaking so has to be handled with care. nd 

2. Shades (5/5) 

Like we mentioned earlier, this collection comes in 10 gorgeous shades. Each lip bar feature two shades of colours that perfectly complement each other for a vivid ombre matte finish. In addition, the colours blend beautifully with one another which gives a gorgeous outlook! The two different textures make the inside of the lips look vivid and the outside of the lips smooth. This naturally enhances the lips to look bigger and fuller.

3. Formula (5/5)

The Laneige Two Tone Matte Lip Bar The a gel formula which will leave a comfortable matte look without drying the lips. The highly vivid colours are packed micro-pigments which gives long-lasting wear.  Despite, being a matte lipstick, the Laneige Two Tone Matte Lip Bar features a hydrating formula that allows the lipstick to glide seamlessly. And this lipstick is suitable for all even if you have chapped lips. 

4. Pigmentation (3/5)

We love the pigmentation of these lip bars and with just one swipe you get a soft natural finish. You can build the colour up with a few swipes to get a very strong gradient. Especially with Burgundy Mood, the thick finish looks bold and sexaaay!!!  They are also super easy to apply but because most of these colour combinations are quite pigmented so the gradient is not always so obvious (especially with the darker shades) If you want a very strong gradient, then don’t press your lips together instead blend it gently with your finger. 

5. Longevity (4/5)

One of the most common misconceptions about moisturising lipsticks is that they don’t really last long. As for these lip bars, they do transfer after you eat or drink but the transfer is very minimal. The tint on the lips doesn’t disappear and we must appreciate the lipstick for not leaving us with the dreaded ring of pigment. It also doesn’t stain the lips much which is a good thing overall.

Final Verdict on The Laneige Two Tone Matte Lip Bar

For those who like gradient lips, we would highly recommend these lip bars. The finish is great and it adds more texture to your lips, We personally really enjoyed the two shades that we got especially the darker shade. And the matte formula is very flattering on the lips.

• Very slim so the bar can break very easily 
• The cap loses its “click” lock over time

Overall, the Laneige Two Tone Matte Lip Bar is worth the try. It is a really innovative product that deserves an applaud for creativity. We know, you can still achieve the gradient lip by blending two lipstick but this lip bar makes your life easy, so why go through the hassle of actually taking two lipsticks with you when you can get an instant gradient lip?!t So, our final verdict is, the Laneige Two Tone Matte Lip Bar is something you should definitely buy.
