Our beloved American fashion designer, Marc Jacobs just released a bunch of photos on Instagram, showcasing his plastic surgery journey—titled ‘’No shame in being vain’’. The series of photos included a selfie of his post-op status, a bandaged face, and a photo of him laying on a hyperbaric chamber.

While some fans applauded the designer for sharing the journey so openly—praising his transparency, honesty and sincerity, some social media users criticized Marc Jacobs for encouraging plastic surgery. In the age where ‘’natural beauty’’ are actively playing their part, some think that Marc’s moves on documenting the whole false narrative of beauty might be a bad influence to the younger generation.

We are not taking any sides over here, but if Marc wants to spend her million dollar bills on something that will make him feel more comfortable and confident with his body, go ahead? You might or might not agree with us on this one but here is Beauty Insider’s take on Marc Jacobs plastic surgery journey!

The Starts Of The Journey

It all started on June 22nd to be exact, when Marc Jacobs took to his Instagram to drop a selfie with a head full of bandage, with a caption saying, ‘’Yesterday. @drjacano #f*ckgravity #livelovelift.’’ Celebrities, friends and fans started to fill the comment section with a heartfelt message, encouraging and praising the 58-years-old designer. ‘’The transparency is everything’’, said stylist June Ambrose. Even fellow designer Anna Sui left heart emojis, signalling that he got her full support along this journey. See below:

Today, on what it looks like to be his 13th day of recovery, he spoke to Vogue, spilling all the details about his bold move on getting a face lift plastic surgery. Marc Jacobs opened up about his history with plastic surgery—confirming that he had gotten a lot of procedures done a couple of years ago. He said, ‘’I don’t remember when but photographer Steven Miesel recommend me a doctor.’’ The professional surgerist is none other than Dr. Brandt, who is of course very famous among the A-lister in Hollywood.

The award-winning designer further stated that he finds it funny with the way people responded to his ‘’journey’’. He said, people need to welcome the topic of getting plastic surgery more often. Because there is no doubt that this aesthetic procedure is getting more and more popular these days. Research shows that 1 out 7 women has gotten at least once facial surgery in her lifetime. Marc said you should be proud of the work you getting, ‘’I don’t think there’s a shame in being vain.’’ Oh, we agree, Marc. We agree

The Reasons Behind

While opening to Vogue, Marc said a few of his friends had suggested him with a filler and botox treatment but he brushed it off saying he doesn’t like the way botox and fillers look on a man’s skin, ‘’They were like.. Very Botox-ed. It seemed like it was too much.’’ We agree with Marc on this one—because men have thicker layers of skin compared to women, so the idea of a man getting botox doesn’t look right to us. But of course, it all depends on everyone’s narrative. No judging here.

As for the main reason behind him getting the procedure, the American designer explained how he started to dislike the way his skin looks. He first started to familiarize himself with simple thread lifts to hold his jowls and the area of his skin where there were obvious sagging and ageing signs. After some time, the sagging problem continued and dampened the weight of the threads, and so they didn’t really hold anything up anymore. That was when he was introduced to Dr. Brandt.

Post-Op Journey

Almost two weeks in recovery, Marc surprisingly seems very positive about the whole procedure and the outcome of it. Even though he is still actively in the process of doing the hyperbaric oxygen-chamber treatment every day for a couple of hours, rest assured that he is definitely healing. Relying heavily on painkillers so he doesn’t have to face the discomfort often, the designer even has a personal nurse who monitors him with the intake of painkillers. Surprisingly, he even admitted that, ‘’I have a problem with addiction, so they make sure that I wouldn’t abuse them.’’

The feelings on the skin however are a bit foreign. According to the designer, it makes your skin feel a bit tighter than usual—especially on the neck area where it does feel like something is tugging on your skin. Ugh, we wonder what it feels like?

Finishing off, Marc Jacobs clearly believes that there is no wrong with wanting to feel young. It shouldn’t be a disgrace for an old person like him to want to look young again. It’s a personal choice that shouldn’t be questioned, afterall a ‘’youth’’ has always been what people aim for. So, let’s cut the crap and let people enjoy what they love to do, as long as they don’t ask for our money. Okay?
