We have officially entered the fourth quarter of the year. That means all the burnouts, tiredness and stresses that we’ve experienced throughout the year have already fully absorbed into every inch and fibres of our body. Honestly speaking, the motivation has been fully lifted out of my spirits, all that was left is the zombie-like energy merging here and there. For some of us who are officially back in the workplace, it is the worst—exhausted, anxious, and simply feel like it’s getting too much.

If only a lot of companies would be kind enough to offer one or two days off to their staff for a ‘’mental break-day’’, just because. Let’s face it, the feeling of overwhelm and office burnout is seriously no joke. The never-ending emails, meetings, Whatsapp messages and so on, can lead to some serious mental issues. So, how would we be able to be as calm and happy as we can be, to stay united and keep encouraging each other to keep a positive mindset—under these circumstances? During the weekend, I stumbled across an article where they asked a few global therapists’ advices on how to tackle the feeling of overwhelm around the workspace. Because if we look closely, the pace that we’re facing right now is far from normal—life has been uncontrollably ramped up a gear or two.

Thus, to help you feel more relaxed and comfortable we helped to list down a few practices that could help you adjust, if not fully transform, your burnout situation to the better. Don’t worry though, this is a safe practice suggested by a trusted global energy healer and hypnotherapist. We here at Beauty Insider encourage you to manage your emotions in the healthiest way possible.

The 7-11 Breathing Technique

This breathing has become popular amongst the youngster thanks to TikTok #fyp. And no, it isn’t related to any 7-11 convenience store nor Beyonce’s famous track. It was called the 7-11 breathing due to the technique of you breathe in through your nose, where you count to solid seven, and then gently breathe out through your mouth where you count to eleven, accompanied by a sighing sound. It was recommended for you to do this for about five or ten rounds, or however long it takes for you to soothe your anxiety. Anxiety, sometimes is a feeling of build up due to overthinking and stress, so with this 7-11 breathing technique, therapists agree it will help to soothe your nervous system.

Adapt The BEN Technique

Another technique that everyone should know, and should be fast to perform every time you start to feel the burn out or anxiety kicks in, is the BEN technique.

B: Stands for ‘’Breathe’’. Before you start to lash out, and react to unnecessary dramas, why don’t you take a few seconds to sit comfortably, breathe in and out for a few seconds. I know sometimes we accidentally come across something that we don’t like during the busiest day of our lives, or those dragging meetings that should have been an email. But instead of reacting to the trigger, make sure to try the 7-11 technique. You got this

E: Stands for ‘’Escape’’. If you need more space, more privacy in between the noise, get up and escape to a much quieter place. Try to have a quick walk outside the building. If you can’t hide in the toilet for five minutes max is all it takes to soothe your emotions. Though, it would be better for you to go outside and find some coffee. I’ve done that before, it truly helps.

N: Stands for ‘’New Role’’. Last but not least, therapists advice you to dive deep and adapt a role or someone you idolize, and imagine how would they handle the given situation if they were in your shoes. This exercise is my favourite because not only does it defuse any tricky situation but also I get to channel my inner character. And my choice? Cersei Lannister from Game of Thrones. I mean, you can try Oprah. No big deal.

Prioritise Your Sleep

Be consistent. Go to bed at the same time each night and get up at the same time each morning, including on the weekends. Make sure your bedroom is quiet, dark, relaxing, and at a comfortable temperature. Remove electronic devices before you go to bed to avoid unnecessary, fake news to interrupt your resting time. How comfortable you are at night, your body temperature and how much light gets into your bedroom are just some of the factors that play a part for a soothing rest. It is time to create a sanctuary in your bedroom for a better everyday life. Making little changes in the bedroom often creates the biggest impact, ensuring you have a good night’s rest.

Connect To Your Surrounding

Okay, it doesn’t specifically have to be a garden, though. Just taking a stroll outside during  a quiet evening would do. Connect more to your surroundings and take a deep breath as you feel the earth moving. Sometimes we are too consumed in our own little world that we forget we’re actually living in a bigger world. And there’s a lot of things around us to be thankful for. Use this time to push any negative thoughts at the back of your mind and just appreciate your surroundings. Grounding is definitely a fantastic anti-inflammatory practice, even Miranda Kerr swears by this technique. She used this moment to install positive thoughts like listing down things that she was grateful for. Do this at least twice in a week and see how your life changes. You will feel more relaxed and less tired. The more you help yourself by slowing down your hectic schedule, the more your body will thank you. Thus, you will feel less tired and moody in the morning. Read about ‘’Biohacking’’ Helps Boost My Daily Energy. But What The Heck Are They Anyway?.
