It feels like only yesterday where we published an article about the next big beauty trends that we need to keep our eyes on—coloured hair, sparkly shadows, encrusted brows and more. This week, it looks like our prophecy became reality when not only one, but two, Hollywood A-listers debuted their new hair looks. Both Dua Lipa and Nicki Minaj went infinity and beyond by adding a few inches of hair extension to their already-existing flawless mane. And while Dua Lipa chose to stay true to her natural roots, Nicki opted for a funky purple streak. A little odd, but still fiery, nevertheless

And it looks like the mermaid-long, straight and silky hair trends (also known as poker straight hair) could be the next big thing because even supermodels like Gigi Hadid, Naomi Campell, and Emily Ratajkowski were seen rocking them while strutting down the runway at Versace x Fendi event recently. And best believe that there will be more of your favourite celebs switching up to this glamorous and super smooth hairstyle soon. How can they not? This hair represents elegance and is sophisticated at the same time. They gave you this long, sultry vibes, femme-fatale vibes but at the same time looks rich, classy and high end. You get the best of both worlds.

And if you can see, Beauty Insider is all about hair lately. Something brewing in the air that makes us want to focus more on the hair section. You know what they say, girls treat their hair like an invisible crown—they speak for us before we could introduce ourselves. How fun? So without further ado, let’s walk through this new hair trend, shall we?

The Poker-Straight Hairstyle

Poker-straight hairstyle—refers to the glamorous, silky, super-long, hairstyle that you often see rocked by the supermodels. It was first debuted in the year of somewhere in the 90’s. And if you noticed, a lot of beauty looks from the two decades ago started to resurface. As they should—because nothing compared to the nostalgic beauty. And thanks to celebrity hair stylists, who also happened to be one of Vogue’s contributing beauty editors, Guido Palau, he decided to bring back the iconic hairstyles at the recent Versace x Fendi event. According to the legend himself, he said the first step to achieve super smooth silky hair is to look for a shampoo that eases the frizz like Oribe’s Run Through Detangling Shampoo. The product is known to not only help detangle your hair but protect your mane from the frequent hair tools you’ve used. They’ll give you a mirror-like shine that you desire. He also said that in order to get the straightest hair possible, make sure to apply a good amount of hair protection like hair oil before straightening your hair. After that, coat your already-straightened hair with a good lightweight hair cream like Larry King’s A Social Life For Your Hair.

Invest In Good Hair Straightener

Also, according to Guido Palau, investing in a good, trustworthy hair straightener is always a good idea. Sure, there’s a lot of cheap products you can find online, but the quality of the products is no doubt out of the window. What’s worse, by using cheap hair straighteners can lead to hair to ultimate hair damage, like split ends, hair shedding, and dryness. Here’s another tip, when you decide to straighten your hair, always start with the lowest heat. Gently swipe the hair straightener, and after a few minutes, then only you brought the heat up. Avoid using it straight on the highest degrees, just like the rest of your body, your hair also can face trigger issues, where they shocked the whole system. Guido suggested you coated your lengths with Bumble and Bumble hairspray for a good overall protection. Noted, mister

Dua Lipa & Nicki Minaj Super Straight Hair

As mentioned earlier, two of the latest celebs to join the tribe are none other than the pop star sensation Dua Lipa and the queen of rap, Nicki Minaj. For Dua, she chose the best moment to debut the look. At Milan fashion week, a few days ago, the 25 years old singer opened the show with a jaw dropping asymmetrical skirt, paired with an oversize rainbow safety pins and a single cut-out along skirt, showcasing her bare midriff and long legs. Her hair though, which is naturally brunette, was added a few inches of extension to it—falling effortlessly down to her waist. When she moved around, it was clear as sky that the long mermaid-hair whipped smoothlessy. According to her hairstylist, he was emphasizing the straightness that Versace’s owner, Donatella loves. It’s a classic hair style which does not appear too extreme like other hair trends nowadays.

As for Nicki Minaj, of course, she chose a more fiery side. The 38-years-old rapper posted a photo on Instagram on September 23rd, rocking a long jet purple hair but with a little twist of fade slash balayage pattern. It is no surprise that Nicki is an ultimate game-player when it comes to spicing up the hairstyles. In the picture below you can see the odd but statement-worthy hairstyle.
