The wait is over. Sunnies Face is now ranked as one of the top, global beauty sensations. The Filipina-owned business which entered the cosmetics industry four years ago—and despite only being accessible in the Philippines and a few Asian countries (they launched in Malaysia sometime late 2020), the label has managed to establish a global presence. Now, the brand is officially expanding over the United States.

The company announced on Instagram that it would begin delivering across the United States starting May 2022. There’s a good possibility the brand will start with their original Fluffmatte lipstick range, based on the post’s screenshots of consumer comments. The lipstick range, if you don’t already know, has become a standard in celebrity makeup artists’ kits, including Florence Pugh, Amandla Stenberg, Kate Bosworth, and Alexa Demie. Rosie’s Huntington‘s label, Rose Inc., even collaborated on a capsule collection with them. So it’s really a big deal

The official release date has yet to be announced, but we at Beauty Insider will keep you updated. For Malaysian fans, Sunnies Face items are available for purchase on their official website, Shopee and Lazada

Sunnies Face’s Debut

Martine Ho, Georgina Wilson, Jess Wilson, Bea Soriano-Dee, and Eric Dee, the company’s creators, introduced their first product, the Sunnies Face Fluffmatte lipstick, in 2018. When it first came out, the line sold out in minutes. Their website failed shortly before hitting 3 million visits, and their inaugural party sold out in ten minutes. Following these significant successes, the company expanded into a broader range of cosmetics and expanded its worldwide reach even further through a global relationship with international celebrities.

“Working with the makeup experts to combine a few colours together to attain the ideal hue was an obsession of ours,” Georgina Wilson says. We wanted to make items that would make our fellow Filipinos’ beauty rituals easier and more enjoyable. For a long time, we’d seen how many individuals in our life wore unappealing lip colours that were worldwide best-sellers but didn’t always compliment our skin tone. We wanted to establish a cosmetic collection that reflected our Southeast Asian history, which has been overlooked by the beauty business in the past.”

Sunnies Face was a logical development of the Sunnies Studios and Sunnies Café lifestyle brands, which specialise in eyeglasses and food & beverages.

The Fluffmate Global Sensation

The Fluffmate lipsticks which originally available in eight colours, now have a total range of 15 different shades. Sunnies’ lipsticks are universally flattering which sets them apart from the usual beauty brands. Each product is packed with intense pigment and flatters everyone. Before finalising the product, the founders met with makeup experts to look over 350 hues and 22 formulations. The lipsticks are largely neutrals with a few reds, since they intended to appeal to a wide range of skin tones.

Bringing In The Asian-Heritage To The U.S

The founders of Sunnies Face hope that their US debut would help to keep Southeast Asian beauty in the spotlight. “Our rich past has resulted in the Philippines becoming a melting pot of many different cultures,” Jessica Wilson explains. “While American culture is clearly present, we believe it is time for Filipino beauty to make its own stamp on the global arena.”

Sunnies Face is proud of its ancestry and culture and we should be too! “The Filipino community is at the forefront, from our models to our shade range, and even our creatives behind the advertising photos,” Matine Ho explains. It’s crucial for us to represent our nation, especially now that we’re expanding beyond Asia and hoping to make Filipino beauty and goods more well-known.”
