With Halloween right around the corner, it’s time to bust out that new eyeshadow palette sitting in your makeup stash. Since we can’t attend physical parties due to CMCO, there’s nothing stopping us from attending a virtual party via Zoom. Plus, now is as good a time as any to experiment and play around with makeup! So today, makeup artist Rachel from Private Colors Academy Malaysia will be showing us how to create an easy infectious vampire makeup look for a virtual Halloween party. Let’s begin!

The beginner’s guide to looking like a vampire for Halloween

Go for a lighter foundation shade

Because vampires are meant to have pale and ashen skin, choose a foundation that’s 2 shades lighter than your skin tone. Remember to prime your skin beforehand to smooth out the skin’s texture and help the foundation stay put. Next, take a high coverage concealer to brighten the area under your eyes and neutralize any redness on the skin.

Sculpt those cheekbones!

Now, it’s time to contour those cheekbones to emulate a vampire’s angular features. While you’re still using cream products, go in with a cream contour to sculpt your cheekbones and jawline. This will make blending it out much easier and it will look more natural too. Additionally, you can contour the sides of your nose as well to give it a longer and sharper appearance. Then, apply a translucent powder to lock your base makeup in place before proceeding with the rest of the makeup.

Define your brows

To give the overall look a vampy and seductive vibe, opt for a thin arch shape for your brows. Here, Rachel used an eyebrow pencil to create extra definition and sharper looking brows.

Halloween vampire eyes

Now, it’s time for the Halloween part of the makeup tutorial! To give the appearance of a vampiric infection, create a mottled smoky eye using dark red and burgundy eyeshadow shades. Take the colour right at the inner corners and under the lower lash line for an air of dark mystery. Then, line your upper lash line with a black liquid eyeliner before applying mascara and false lashes for extra drama. Next, take a mixture of brown and red eyeshadow and stipple it right under your eyes and onto your cheekbones. This gives the illusion of a sickly flush, like an infection that’s creeping and spreading around your eye area. Finally, take a red lipstick or face paint and draw bloody veins under your eyes with a fine-tipped brush. To enhance the veins, add shadow and depth with a black eyeliner pencil.

Halloween special effects

What is Halloween without a bit of fake blood? To complete the look, apply a dark berry lipstick as a stain onto your lips. Then, apply a smidgen of gloss onto your lips and eyelids for a touch of sheen. Last but not least, take some fake blood and apply it onto the outer corners of your lips to complete the vampiric transformation.

And that’s the finished look! If you’re planning to recreate this look, don’t forget to tag us on Instagram @beautyinsider.my and @privatecolorsacademy for a chance to be featured!
