How Does Liposuction Treatment Work?

As the name stands, liposuction is basically the process of ‘sucking’ out fats from certain parts of the body. Using special instruments, a plastic surgeon will first cut into your skin. Then, using a specialist liposuction machine, the surgeon will vacuum the fat out of that area. In recent years, improved techniques have made the treatment less painful.

It is usually done as an outpatient procedure, so it does not require an overnight hospital stay unless a large volume of fat is being removed.

Who Is a Suitable Candidate for the Treatment?

You are a good candidate for the procedure if you have excessive body fat in certain areas of your body but otherwise have stable body weight. If you are an overweight individual, then this treatment is not suitable for you. In this case, then you might need to undergo bariatric procedures like gastric bypass surgery. It is also suitable for people who have elastic skin that can contract after the fat cells have been removed. 

For people who lack skin elasticity, you may end up with loose- looking skin after the procedure. Furthermore, you have to be over 18 years old and in good health before undergoing liposuction treatment. People who have circulation or blood flow problems like diabetes, coronary artery disease, and a weakened immune system are not advised to undergo the treatment.

What Is the Liposuction Recovery Duration?

What Is the Price of Liposuction in Malaysia?

The cost is relatively lower compared to other parts of the world. However, because it is a cosmetic procedure, so it is not normally covered by medical insurance, meaning you’ll have to pay for all of the expenses yourself. The price of liposuction in Malaysia is anywhere between RM5,000 to RM32,000. The prices vary depending on the clinic and the procedures. It is best to contact the clinics of your choice for up-to-date prices. 

What Are the Side Effects of Liposuction Treatment? 

Liposuction surgery conducted by an experienced doctor in a well-equipped facility is generally low-risk. However, different people will have different reactions to the treatment. Below are all the risks and effects that might occur during or after the treatment. 

According to NHS, some of the most common side effects of liposuction include:

• Scarring
• Bruising and swelling, which can persist for up to six months
• Numbness, which typically resolves within six to eight weeks
• Inflammation in the treated area or veins underneath
• Fluid drainage from the incisions
• Swollen ankles (if the legs or ankles are treated)

These side effects are generally temporary, so they won’t last long. The skin will usually tighten and retract after a few months. But in some people, the skin may remain somewhat loose.

Less common side effects include:

• Permanent colour changes in the skin

• Damage or burn o the nerves and skin
