Is there anything more convenient than an at-home IPL hair removal session? No more awkward laser appointments at salons, enduring the embarrassment of someone else removing hair from your body. When I was offered the chance to test out the viral Ulike Sapphire Air-3 to review, I was over the moon!

For those unfamiliar, an IPL (Intense Pulsed Light) hair removal device uses broad-spectrum light to target and reduce hair growth over time. The device emits pulses of light absorbed by the pigment (melanin) in hair follicles, generating heat that damages the follicle and slows future hair growth. Unlike traditional hair removal methods that cut or pull hair from the surface, IPL aims for long-term reduction by addressing the root of the hair. Imagine no longer having to shave every week. That novelty alone makes this product more than worth it.

My Experience

Ulike Sapphire Air 3 review

It’s a little embarrassing to admit but when I first received the Ulike Sapphire Air-3, I was under the impression that it would zap away the hair on my skin like a high-tech razor. After I read the detailed manual it came with, only then did I understand that the gadget is in it for the long haul, aiming to reduce hair growth over time with consistent use. It was definitely a surprise to learn that I had to shave off my existing hair first before using the device, but the idea of not having to deal with constant shaving or waxing in the future definitely makes it worth it.

Using the device was an unexpectedly pleasant experience. I braced myself for some discomfort, but thanks to the Sapphire Ice-Cooling Tech, I felt absolutely no pain — just a little zap that was more surprising than anything else. The cooling sensation was soothing, making the whole process much more comfortable than I anticipated. Another feature to take note of is that the Ulike Sapphire Air-3 has intelligent automatic continuous flash technology that emits non-stop, blinding red flashes. Luckily, the device comes with a pair of safety glasses, which I quickly learned are a must to don during every use.

It’s clear that Ulike has put a lot of thought into making this device as pain-free and user-friendly as possible and after using it multiple times on my entire body, including the sensitive parts, I can say with confidence that they have achieved both their goals.

All in all, my first time using the Ulike Sapphire Air-3 was quite positive, though it was certainly a learning curve. However, it’s still too early for me to properly assess the long-term effects. I’m cautiously optimistic and excited to see if it lives up to its promises of long-term hair reduction but given its track record worldwide, I’m certain that it will.
