Did the Vanity Fair Oscars Party Redefine Beauty for 2025?
Once again, less is more!
By: Astrid Zulhaime / March 8, 2025

The Oscars wrapped up earlier this week, marking the official close of this year’s awards season. Beyond the trophies, the red carpet at these star-studded events set the tone for what will be trendy for the rest of the year, from makeup to fashion. Since celebrities dictate what’s in and what’s out, our Insiders had their eyes on the annual Vanity Fair Oscars Party 2025 — because let’s be honest, that’s where the real magic happens, not the ceremony itself. We’re glad we paid attention because from what we saw, 2025 is on the cusp of a major beauty revolution and here’s why.

Dare to Bare It All

One of the most striking beauty trends from this year’s Vanity Fair Oscars Party was that hardly any celebrity arrived looking red carpet-ready — what gives? No-makeup makeup is a staple for everyday wear, but under the glare of flashing cameras? That takes confidence (and a great dermatologist).
Even stars known for their sculpted, bronzed looks like Kim Kardashian ditched the heavy glam, opting for a barely-there face with soft eyeshadow, ultra-glowy skin, strong brows, and glossy, nude lips. Hunter Schafer took it even further, wearing almost nothing on her face except smoked-out kohl-lined eyes. If this is any indication, 2025 is steering away from the full beat.
Going Nude with Concealer Lips

Nude lips are officially back! How do we know? Exhibit A: MAC’s newly launched nude lipstick collection. Exhibit B: Nearly every celebrity at this year’s Vanity Fair Oscars Party (except for Elle Fanning and her bold red lip) seemed to have unanimously agreed on skipping lipstick. Well, less skipped it and more picked shades so nude they practically disappeared.
While the resurgence of early 2000s concealer lips has been bubbling up, this feels like a full-fledged hard launch. Jenna Ortega and Lily-Rose Depp paired their dramatic, smoked-out eyes with bare lips, using only liner for subtle definition, while Oscar-winner Mikey Madison and Selena Gomez opted for slightly deeper but still neutral tones. This year, it’s time to retire the pinks and reds, ladies.
No Eyebrows? No Problem!

Now here’s a beauty trend we’re not entirely convinced will catch on: bleached eyebrows. But celebrities like Julia Fox, Miley Cyrus, and Maisie Williams are making a strong case for it, stepping out with barely-there brows that leave their lightly made-up faces looking almost futuristic. The otherworldly effect puts all the focus on bone structure and eye shape, creating an edgy and high-fashion aesthetic. Bleached eyebrows are definitely suitable for the red carpet but will it translate to everyday beauty? Regardless, one thing’s for sure — it’s impossible to ignore.
If you’re thinking, “Hey, none of these makeup trends are exactly new,” you’re right. The rule for everything, including beauty, is that what goes around definitely comes around. Whether it’s the tried, tested, and loved no-makeup makeup or the edgier — yet absolute canon event for all young women — bleached eyebrows, there’s nothing new under the sun. Trends will keep cycling in and out, but thanks to the Vanity Fair Oscars Party 2025, we’re betting on these three defining looks for the rest of this calendar year.
