With our hectic schedules, many of us don’t normally have the luxury of time when it comes to having a full-blown 10 to 15 step skincare routine. But what if we could save tons of time without compromising on the efficacy of our skincare products? That’s where Nudeskin by Nudestix comes in! Known for their iconic fuss-free and minimalist approach to makeup, Nudestix has now come up with an all-new glow-giving skincare line for gals (and guys) on the go! “Regardless of her age or where she is in the world, the modern woman of today has a career, a home, a family…(but) the one thing she doesn’t have is time. And she wants beauty to be easy, fast, effortless, and most importantly on-the-go.”

Fuss-free, vegan and cruelty-free beauty for women on the go

About 8 years ago, Taylor Frankel started vegan and cruelty-free beauty brand Nudestix alongside her mum, Jenny (a beauty engineer) and her sister Ally. Mum Jenny has been in the beauty scene developing cosmetics for over 20 years, including some of MAC Cosmetics’ most iconic favourites (such as MAC Lipglass!).

“One of our core philosophies at Nudestix is multitasking”, said Taylor. “Everything we do is all about making your life easier and simplifying your routine. And all our products are vegan, cruelty-free and free of parabens and preservatives.”

Taylor, Jenny and Ally have always been avid lovers of skin. It took them 2 years of thorough research, development and clinical trials to develop Nudeskin. Applying their core philosophies of creating easy, fast, effortless, minimalist and multitasking beauty essentials, they also wanted to create beauty products that were effective yet gentle enough to uphold the delicate balance of the skin. Since prepping the skin can do wonders for makeup application, they decided to go with glow-giving multitaskers to cover the key steps in our skincare routine – cleanse, exfoliate, tone and hydrate.

“Nudestix is truly a labour of love. We worked alongside renowned dermatologist Dr. Jason Emer M.D. (a board-certified dermatologist based in Beverly Hills California). Together, we developed a line of simple multitasking vegan-powered skincare to help everyone achieve confident nude-faced beauty.” said Taylor.

Nudeskin is all about creating minimal effort and maximum impact skincare routines for the everyday woman (and man). All the products in the skincare line contain citrus botanicals as well as active ingredients to thoroughly cleanse, detoxify, soothe, hydrate and brighten the skin for a radiant glow.

“With so many brands out there, what we felt was missing was a combination between dermatological and cosmeceutical (clean, cruelty-free, recyclable packaging) skincare”, she reflected. “So we took the efficacious component of dermatology and combined it together with our core philosophies – and that’s what truly makes Nudeskin.”

Taylor’s top tips for glowing skin

Don’t skip the cleansing!

When asked what the key steps are to see a difference in our skincare routines, Taylor emphasized the importance of proper cleansing and makeup removal.

“We need to constantly renew the skin,” she explained. “It doesn’t matter if you’re into skincare for anti-ageing, acne, texture, fine lines, enlarged pores, sun damage or hyperpigmentation. One thing in common (for all skin types) is you need to promote cell turnover. Cleansing is the most important step. If you’re not cleansing properly, you moisturisers aren’t going to be effective.”

To remove your waterproof makeup and sunscreen at the end of the day, the Nudeskin Citrus Clean Balm & Makeup Melt is a 4-in-1 balm that melts into an oil when you massage it onto your skin. It contains nourishing rosehip and orange peel oils as well as gentle AHAs like malic acid from apples to refresh, detoxify and brighten the skin. Once all your makeup has emulsified, Taylor recommends removing all the grime with a damp cloth.

But would a cleansing balm with citrus oils and acids be irritating on the skin you may ask? “It depends on the percentage,” said Taylor. “We’ve used a very small percentage of these oils to minimize irritation.” Also, this is actually an olive oil-based cleanser which is suitable even for sensitive as well as eczema-prone skin.

After removing your makeup, it’s time to go in with a second cleanse. The Nudeskin Gentle Hydra-Gel Face Cleanser contains hyaluronic acid, bergamot and mushroom extract and has a micellar-type gel texture to soothe and hydrate the skin. Taylor’s skin-soothing tip: “Keep it in the fridge to keep it cool, and leave it on for 30 minutes as a hydrating mask before rinsing it off.”

Use a gentle chemical exfoliant

Aside from a proper cleanse, exfoliating at least 2 to 3 times a week can do wonders for the texture and tone of your skin. The Nudestix Lemon-Aid Detox & Glow Micro-Peel is a gentle chemical exfoliant that contains natural citrus botanicals, papain from papaya as well as AHAs derived from apples and pomegranates. What we love about this exfoliant is that you can simply massage it onto dry skin for 60 to 90 seconds and watch all your dead skin cells come off satisfyingly in rubber balls. Plus, you can even double it up as a lip scrub for soft and supple lips!

Hydration is key

Finally, the last part in your skincare routine is to replenish and lock in the moisture in your skin. The Nudestix 5% Citrus Fruit & Glycolic Glow Toner and Citus-C Mask & Daily Moisturizer go hand in hand to brighten and energize your skin for a radiant lit-from-within glow. Because the toner is completely free of alcohol, you won’t have to worry about it drying your skin out or exacerbating dry patches. Additionally, you can apply a thicker layer of the moisturiser in the evening and leave it on as an overnight nourishing treatment.

If you’re looking to try out Nudeskin for yourself, they currently have a capsule kit with 3 of their key essentials (cleansing balm, exfoliant and moisturiser-mask) for fuss-free glowing skin. Available now at Sephora!

As for plans for 2021, Taylor shares that they’re planning to launch a sunscreen and skincare tools soon, so do stay tuned for that!

Taylor’s beauty power

“My beauty power means being confident in your beautiful self. Whether you’re a “less is more” or “more is more” girl – beauty is an art of expression. The art of being confident and expressing yourself. I think it’s incredibly powerful to be able to control that feeling of confidence.”
