Aside from acne popping out of nowhere on the surface of your skin, who else agrees that the most annoying thing next to those annoying red zits are the large appearance of blackheads? And truth be told, not a single person can hide from being a victim to blackheads—and no matter how many layers of face masks you’re wearing, they just won’t leave.

And between our fingers, the special tools, and gazillion of skincare products we spent to banish the annoying thick pores away, what are the most natural ways to do or slash used to bid farewell to those blackheads forever? When it comes to skincare products, what are formulas or ingredients to look for that are suitable for the treatment? For treatments, shall we just go for a normal facial or ask for additional blackheads remover service?

For someone like me who’s been dealing with blackheads problems since a teenager, trust me, I have tried and tested more than 20 different products labelled, ‘’blackheads remover’’ on the packaging. But do they really work? Not until I found natural remedies that are quick enough to shrink the pores—in just a snap of a finger. Read further to learn more, only at Beauty Insider

First, What Is Blackheads?

Just like the rest of your other skin concerns, blackheads are actually the result of blocked pores from the many amounts of dead skin cells and oils that are trapped underneath the layer of your skin. When clamped together, they create this debris or ‘’waste’’ in between the barrier of your skin. Other experts even believed that blackheads came from open comedones. To make it easier to understand, the small hair follicle that can be found on your skin is filled with other elements like keratin and sebum.

So when they are overly exposed to foul environments, the oxygen will oxidise each element, hence resulting in dirt, filth and black in colour. As opposed to whiteheads, the reason why they remain white is because they’re still somewhat covered in skin. Odd, we know. Blackheads can grow literally anywhere on your body but the most common places are cheeks, nose and forehead.

So, What Causes Blackheads Anyway?

As mentioned before, most blackheads were caused by a build-up of dirt, sweats, oil and dead skin cells. However, according to celebrity beauty experts, Kate Kerr, she explained that blackheads can also be generated from different factors in life—stress, being one of them. Other than that, you can also take a look at the overproduction of oil which is heavily connected to your hormone levels. According to Kate Kerr, ‘’Stress is one of the major reasons behind an overproduction of a sebum. When it gets triggered by an imbalance of hormones, this is when it creates unwanted skin cells. Such as blackheads, acne and others.’’ Kate also said wearing the wrong cosmetic products that are not suitable for your skin can also worsen the state of the blackheads.

Kate further explained, ‘’If you’re already dealing with oily skin problems, and you over wear a product that contains a huge amount of oils for moisturizing elements inside, this actually brings more harm and further the blockage of the skin cell. They can’t breathe.’’ Kate also said that having genetically larger pores or inherited oily skin can also complicate the situation. So make sure you’re washing your face at least twice daily to clean the leftover dirt on your skin.

How To Get Rid Of Blackheads?

Over the first step is to identify the root of the problem. Meaning, you need to understand the condition of your skin. What skin type are you dealing with? Is it dry, combination, oily or sensitive? Next, you need to use the right products that can overall lessen the appearance of your pores. Another beauty expert, Dr Anjali Mahto, explained that you need to look for products that are labelled oil-free or non-comedogenic. ‘’Both oil-free and non-comedogenic products are known to help shrinkage the production of sebum (or oil). Whilst they’re not guaranteed to cleaned of the blackheads in one night, but they’re in fact help to control any access of dirts absorbed further into your skin.’’ Understandable.

Other than that, Dr Anjali also suggested that retinol is a must have ingredient to incorporate everyday if you wish to banish the blackheads, whiteheads and acne altogether. She said, ‘’Retinol is always the answer when it comes to improving the natural cell turnover. This liquid were created to prevent skin build-ups that can lead to clogged pores.’’ Moral of the story, if you swear by these two—non comedogenic and retinol products, best believe your blackheads will disappear before you could even notice it.
