Prime Your Lids

Just like the rest of your skin, your eyelids also need a good prime. Monolid eyes are prone to fallout since the skin on the crease is limited and cannot easily catch the eye shadow products. And if you prefer to use concealer as your base, make sure they’re oil-free. Because seriously, nothing’s worse than having oily eyelids and smudging eye makeup.

So make sure you use a good amount of primer to keep your eye makeup together. To make your eye shadow stick longer, you can apply a setting powder on top. A loose and seamless setting powder is perfect to use as an eyeshadow base.

Follow The Shape Of Your Eyes

If you have monolid eyes, you can’t rely on those American techniques where their main focus is the outer V and the creases. So, instead of focusing to ‘’define’’ or highlight your lids, you would want to focus more on the shape of your eyes. This means applying products along your lash line. With this, it will help enhance and lift the shape of your eyes. Our tip is to apply products vertically. Make sure the products are aligned with your eye lines when you open your eyes.

Eyeliner All The Way

To make your eyes bigger, use an eye pencil to tightline the upper lash line—starting from the line between eyelashes, bring it forward to your waterline in the corner. Choose a waterproof eyeliner for a lasting impactful effect. After that, don’t forget to smudge out the liner to create a seamless line. Use a smudger brush to carefully blend all those unwanted harsh lines. You don’t want to end up looking like a cartoon.

If you want, you can create a minimal slash natural smokey eye look using a soft coloured eyeshadow like peach and light brown. Remember a ‘’smokey’’ eye makeup doesn’t always have to be black.

Go Bold Or Go Home

Opting for bold colourful shadows is never a bad idea when it comes to monolid eye shapes, as a matter of fact, it could be your golden ticket to give you that bright, wider and awakened gazette. When choosing a colour, pull out some fancy colours that will make your eyes stand out.

The brighter the colour, the more it will help to make your eyes bigger, in contrast to dark and somber colour that will bring down the appearance of your eyes. We’re not saying that dark eyeshadows are bad, but most darker shades tend to decompose your eyes as opposed to fully open them.

Put On Some Lashes

Do not be afraid to put on some fluttery and glamorous eyelashes—they will help to elevate your eye looks especially on monolid eye shapes. Here’s our tip when it comes to choosing false lashes for monolids; find lashes that are fuller and longer in the middle and shorter on both sides, towards the end. It will really help to open up your eyes more. Not to mention, giving you those glamorous glances.

However, for those of you who aren’t fans of lashes and rely heavily on mascaras, we got you too. The first step is to curl your lashes for about 15 – 20 seconds, before applying any product onto your lashes. If you want to create a fuller effect, why don’t you invest on one of those eyelash serums or primers? Most of them work wonders so you might want to check them out. Next, always opt for a voluminous mascara, and coat them for at least 2 layers for a bigger eye effect.
