I hate cold weather (In Malaysia, we call it non-stop rainy weather) and my skin gets drier every time I’m exposed to a cold environment. And sometimes it leads to an unsettling, itchy reaction that will end up with a flaky skin appearance. And I know I always advise Beauty Insider’s readers like you to always layer a good amount of SPF all over your body and face—but sometimes I forgot how important it is to incorporate body lotions too, especially if you’re dealing with dry and sensitive skin.

I’m well aware that there are over hundreds of body lotions and body moisturisers out there but I’m just going straight to the point and say that Palmer’s Coconut Oil Hand Cream is truly unbeatable in treating dry skin. It is nothing like the rest of them—it’s better. So far, I haven’t found any hand creams or lotions that could come close to this product. And not just because they’re cheap as heck, (that’s the best part), but the fact that they’re infused with skin-boosting ingredients like coconut extract, vegetable oil, cocoa seed butter and Gardenia Tahitensis flower extract.

Honestly, with that many benefits that come with such an affordable price, I don’t see why any of you battling with flaky skin wouldn’t want to have this in your bag ASAP.

How To Choose Hand Cream For Dry Skin?

Dry skin is equal to sensitive skin. Just as much as the keratosis pilaris problem, dry skin often reacts quickly to harsh ingredients. So the best hand cream to choose to remedy your flaky skin are those that contain Squalane, Vitamins, Glycerin, Ceramides and Hyaluronic Acid. Of course, Hyaluronic Acid is one of the best elements to combat dry skin so you might want to find something that is labelled with mentioned ingredients.

However if your skin is highly reactive to chemicals please avoid anything that contains additional alcohol, especially fragrances, and even sulphates.

Palmer’s Coconut Oil Hand Cream Review

You could easily spot any Palmer’s product at your nearest drugstore. The good thing about Palmer’s brand is that they always prioritise the goodness of natural ingredients inside, ensuring to treat any sort of skin problem, including the most sensitive. Their formula in inventing each product is to use the Cocoa Butter Formula—a bonafide classic skin hydrator that contains a mixture of mineral oils, cocoa seed, flower extracts and additional skin-relief factors such as balm. This Coconut Oil Hand Cream is no different from the rest of Palmer’s other production. They have been around for quite some time though, and the fact that most beauty geeks still opt for high-end products that cost them their entire salary check, baffles me.

It really does help soothe my flaky skin and minimise itchiness. Anytime my skin starts to twitch, I’ll quickly rub the hand cream all over my upper arm (where it usually feels crackly) and immediately feels better. Seriously, this hand cream is worth the stan.

The Texture

The texture is normal, off white colour that glides smoothly on your skin. Honestly, it spreads very easily and is absorbed fully into the depth layers of the skin barrier without leaving any residues behind. You can actually feel the hydration right away on the first layer. If you’re not a fan of thick products then you’re going to love this one. It is lightweight and non-sticky, suitable to be worn anytime, anyday without having to worry about greasy hand problems.

The Smell

Because most Palmer’s products are infused with cocoa butter, you might come across a chocolate-y scent even with this Coconut Oil Hand Cream. Though the coconut scent took up all the spaces in the bottle, it still smells freshening. The first time I opened the tube, I was greeted with a fresh forest smell with a hint of chocolate ganache. However, if you’re not a fan of heavy smells, it might be a little too much for you.

The Ingredients

If we’re about to do the rundown of whole ingredients, it could take up days. Palmer’s  Coconut Oil Hand Cream literally contains up to 33 different ingredients. 24 of it were infused with skin benefits components which you’re already aware of. Some of the ingredients include Cocos Nucifera (Coconut) Fruit Extract which act as a skin conditioner, Cocos Nucifera (Coconut) Oil; a highly antioxidant property which famously known to combat dry skin, Glycerin that helps to improve skin texture, another skin conditioner; Hydrogenated Vegetable Oil, Gardenia Tahitensis Flower Extract; uses by most skincare experts to restore elastin and hydration back into your skin.

The Packaging

Palmer’s Coconut Oil Hand Cream comes in a thick plastic tube which is very durable. Available in a few sizes but the smallest, 60g, is enough for you. One user said that the bottle can hold up to 12 months. But if you know you’re going to use it more often than usual then you can go for the bigger size. The 60g is handy and easy to carry anywhere. It’s the same size as your hand sanitizers.

The Price

For as small as 60g, you could get it at around RM10. Yes, you read it right. Hence why it confuses me why some skincare nerds would go for something that could cost them arm and legs when you have this germ hidden at the corner of your drugstore.
