One thing Bella Hadid knows what to do is being a trendsetter. The corset top trend? That was from Bella. The wet pulled-back high bun? From Bella as well. Oh, not to mention she even single-handedly inspired his famous ex The Weeknd to dedicate his whole album for her. Seriously, no one does it better than our beloved Bella Hadid.

So when she decided to drop a series of pictures on Instagram of her rocking double-tone hair we really aren’t surprised but at the same can’t help but to wonder, could this be the next cool trend that might be hovering on our TikTok #fyp? Some suggest that the Palestenian-American model could actually be rocking a wig? But to be honest, wig or not, this is a trend we could see ourselves get behind.

The 90’s Inspired Hair

A throwback style from the 90’s is always welcome in this generation. The grunge look with dark coloured lipstick or a funky blue eyeliner—even the double tone hair, which you highlight the front streak of the hair with the colour of your choice. Like the one Bella Hadid pulled off on the series of Instagram posts on 3rd of August 2021. The hair really screams Y2K aesthetic.

If you remember correctly, 90’s girl band Spice Girls are among the first few to anchor the look. Most notably, Geri Halliwell aka Ginger Spice. The petite singer can often be seen rocking a vivid red-orange hair colour (where she gained the nickname Ginger), with her front streak highlighted in blonde. Fast forward to 2019, in honour of Spice Girls world tour, Geri returned her famous look—posted a photo of the hair transformation, she captioned, ‘’The Ginger is back!.’’

Bella’s Hair Debut

Now, taking a cue from the famous 90’s heartthrob, supermodel Bella Hadid debuted a jaw dropping two-toned hair colour. But the difference is, while Geri’s hair is coated in reddish colour, Bella maintains her glossy black mane on. She chose to highlight the front part of her hair with a golden shade, and plus, she created a fringe effect. Meaning she misaligned the length of her fringe away from the rest of her hair.

And soon, the comment section was filled with friends and fans complimenting the 24-years-old new look. With a caption, ‘’A sweet dinner to celebrate our last job of the season before a few weeks off for summer’’, the model posted a few slides of her and her close friends strolling around New York City. And while the hair quickly became the main topic of conversation, her outfit of choice doesn’t stray away from the spotlight.

She donned over a matching pair of sheer cardigan and midi-length skirt, with tight black knee boots. This is one of the many reasons why we—me, especially—are totally obsessed with Gigi’s younger sister. Not only does she know how to navigate a style in beauty with her own touch but also is versatile in mixing together a fashion trend.

Bella’s Other ‘’Cool’ Hair Trends

But to be honest this isn’t the first time the Libra beauty experimented with something involving her hair. The model is no stranger to peculiar styles, be it a wig or her real hair. A few days before she debuted the two tone hair, she posted a throwback picture of her rocking a dark brown curly updo. And then a few days later, another picture of the model transitioned into a la-French-lady blonde wig. Seriously, is there anything that she can’t do? The world will never know.

Bella’s hair lookbook is totally different from any other supermodels in the world. We all agree, yes? Apart from all those hair transformations, some of honorable mention would include the Hollywood glam look where hair stylist Cash Lawless called ‘’A fembot hair’’, the bouncy hair for Harper’s Bazaar’s after party styled by Jen Atkin, the sleek-short-swingy style in what believes to be her real length hair, and of course her signature wavy-curly ponytail look.

The Next Cool Trend

So the question is, will this two-toned hair colour  introduced by Bella Hadid in this generation be the next cool, internet girl beauty trend? The world will never know, but if we are indeed going to see this hair trend everywhere levitating across our social media, we ain’t complaining. Seriously, it took one hell of a bravery in order to have the confidence to rock this hairstyle.

The versatility of this hair trend is that you can literally choose any colour to highlight the front part of your hair. The choices are endless. Though the universal colour is most likely to be either brown, blonde or golden. Now is the chance for you to channel your inner Bella Hadid!
